Not in Edinburgh? We cover your town too:
Our fence repairs in Edinburgh replace blown-down panels, rotten or snapped posts and broken gravel boards, so your boundary is secure again quickly.
Every winter storm brings the same calls: a panel blown out, a run of fence leaning over the neighbour's garden, a post snapped at ground level. Often the damage is limited to a few bays, and a repair is all that's needed. Sometimes the storm just exposed that the whole fence was failing.

Fence repairs in Edinburgh after storms and wear
Replacing panels
If the posts are sound, we replace broken or blown panels with matching ones and fix them securely. We'll check the neighbouring panels at the same time.
Replacing posts
Timber posts usually rot at ground level, where they stay wet. We dig out the old post and its concrete and set a new concrete or treated timber post in fresh concrete. In a run of panels, a concrete post with a slotted channel is often the best repair.
Repair spurs
Where a timber post has rotted only at the base, a concrete repair spur bolted alongside it can be a quick, cost-effective fix. It's not as good as a new post, and we'll tell you honestly if it's worth it.
Gravel boards and rails
Rotten gravel boards are replaced with concrete or treated boards. On closeboard fences, broken boards or rails are replaced individually.
Gates
Sagging, sticking or broken gates rehung, posts reset or gates replaced. See garden gates.
02
Repair or replace?

| Situation | Best option |
|---|---|
| One or two panels blown out, posts sound | Replace panels |
| A few posts rotten, rest sound | Replace those posts and panels |
| Most posts soft at ground level | Replace the run with new fencing |
| Fence is 15 to 20 years old and failing in several places | Replace; repairs will keep coming |
New fencing costs more upfront, but replacing an old fence bay by bay every winter often costs more in the end. See garden fencing.
03
Stopping it happening again
If a fence keeps blowing down, the usual causes are shallow posts, posts set in soil, or solid panels in an exposed spot. When we repair, we fix the cause, not just the panel: deeper posts, concrete footings and, where needed, a switch to closeboard or slatted fencing that copes better with wind.

04
Making a boundary safe after a storm
If a fence has fallen into a road, path or a neighbour's garden, or is leaning dangerously, we can make it safe first by taking it down and securing the boundary temporarily, then come back to repair it properly.
05
Insurance
Storm damage to fences is sometimes covered by home insurance, depending on your policy. We can provide a written quote describing the damage and the repair.
06
Fence repairs across Edinburgh and the Lothians
We repair fences across the city and the Lothians, with exposed areas like Penicuik, Musselburgh and the open estates of Livingston taking the worst of the winter storms.

Fence repair FAQs
Can you match my existing fence panels?
Usually. Standard panel sizes and styles are widely available. New panels will look brighter until they weather or are treated.
Who pays for a fence repair on a shared boundary?
Your title deeds should say who owns the fence. Shared fences are usually shared costs. We can provide one quote for both neighbours.
When's the best time to book?
Straight after a storm everyone needs fencing at once. Booking repairs to failing fences before winter avoids the rush.
